The Easiest Yet Effective Hair Care Routine For Winters!

Winters can take a toll on your hair like nothing else. Things cold weather does to your scalp are inevitable. However, if you pay attention to your hair care routine, you will see amazing results. During the cold months, your scalp suffers from lack of moisture which leads to dandruff and irritation. This aggravates the need to scratch and makes hair fall look like a common problem.

Don’t worry, a good winter hair care routine can get you out of this easily. You can use moisturising winter hair care products or use simple home remedies to solve many of these issues.

Winter Hair Tips

Only a few productive measures taken by you can save the lustre and health of your hair for the entire season. Here’s what you need to do.

Moisturise your scalp and your hair regularly

If you’ve been stuck in your head about how to take care of your hair in winter naturally, then this is your first step. In winters, the indoor heating sucks the moisture out of your hair leaving your scalp dry and flaky. Using nourishing hair oils such as argan, jojoba, almond or coconut in your hair care routine at this time can reap a lot of benefits. You can apply a few drops at the end of the day to moisturise the scalp and then wash it off after 20-30 minutes or you can try another remedy of applying warm oil. Take two tablespoons of your prefered oil and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Warm the oil and then add lemon juice to it. Now, use a cotton ball to dab the oil on your scalp, then massage it. Leave it in for 20-30 minutes and then wash it. Repeat the process at least once a week until your flaky scalp is under control.

Avoid washing your hair too frequently

A lot of people wash their hair every day. It’s better to not continue this routine in winters. Over washing the hair will strip the natural oils away from the hair and will leave it without protection which your hair needs in winter. Extend the period of time between your washes as much as you can. You can occasionally use dry shampoo to make the process easy.
Bare Tip: If you don’t have oily roots, try skipping the shampoo and wash your hair with the conditioner.

Skip heat styling

Over styling and heat styling mostly lead to dry and lifeless hair. Your hair is already fragile in colder months and heat styling can damage them more easily by sucking the moisture from hair strands. Just let the natural texture of your hair be and air dry your hair instead. If you’re worried about the frizz, use a few drops of light hair oil. Tie your hair up or try natural hair curls instead of using a curling iron.
Condition your hair using a deep hair mask at least once a week
Just as you use face masks to obtain radiant skin, use hair masks as well, especially when you have dry and damaged hair. They can reverse the effects of dryness and protect your hair from all sorts of damage on an optimal level. Hair masks are easy-to-make and are highly effective. You only have to keep it on for 15-30 minutes.

Use dry shampoo for limp hair

This is a classic problem with winter styling. No matter how well you style your hair, as soon as you take off your scarf or hat, it’s all gone, especially for the ones who have oily hair. The best solution to avoid this compromise is to carry a travel-friendly bottle of dry shampoo along. Apply it on the roots whenever needed and fix your hair. Dry shampoo opens up the hair shaft which keeps it looking fuller and alive.
Air dry your hair before you leave the house
Cold or wet hair expands the hair shaft making it more prone to breakage. As it is recommended to avoid blow dry, wash your hair in the night instead and allow it to air dry. If you cannot avoid the situation in any case, protect your hair with a scarf.
We recommend you use silk scarves as wool hats and other fabrics can cause breakage. Fitted hats traps oils at the roots leaving the ends dry and unprotected. Silk scarf can protect your hair from frizz and static hair. As silk is naturally hypoallergenic, it prevents thinning, split ends and knotted hair.

Hydrate!

Each strand of your hair is made of 25% water. Drinking enough water encourages hair growth and energises your body, in general. It stimulates healthier scalp and protects it from dandruff, itchiness and dryness. If you drink at least 2-3 litres of water a day, the hydration will benefit both your skin and hair.
